“If we demand enlightenment, it hides. . . . All that we can do is make ourselves enlightenment-prone. We learn to treasure the possibility of awakening in all moments and circumstances. We learn to simplify and cultivate the receptivity of heart that can be touched by profound understanding. We learn to listen deeply and discover stillness amid the movement in our world.” ~
Christina Feldman

There are many ways to energize and bring balance to the crown chakra and connect with your inner self. Here are some suggestions:

Foods: Rather than eating certain foods to bring balance, fasting and detoxifying the body are recommended to cleanse and clear the crown chakra.
A great resource: 28 Simple & Natural Ways to Detox your Body

Incorporate the colors white or lavender: Decorate the house with purple or gold accent colors, such as throw pillows, area rugs, curtains, bedding and towels. Place white or lavender flowers in your home. Place white or lavender candles throughout the home and light them when you desire an atmosphere of peace.

Silence: Take some time every day to be still in silence. Spending time in silence is vital in balancing the crown chakra. Turn off the TV and music and listen to the natural sounds around you.
Connect with your inner self through silent yoga, meditation or contemplation. Take a walk outdoors, sit under a tree, read, take a short nap.

Honor The Divine: Explore your concept of God. Take some daily time to connect to the sacred. Sit in stillness, pray, listen to inspiring music, worship, sing, dance, walk in nature, gaze into the cosmos under the night sky, meditate, write, etc. Prayer can be as simple as setting an intention for your daily yoga practice. It is also helpful to create a sacred space in the home set aside for meditation and prayer.

Choose love: Discern every situation with love. Be kind and loving to yourself. Treat your body with dignity and respect. Consume healthy foods and stay clear from toxic products. Practice love and kindness and compassion towards others. Reaching out to help others strengthens your connection to people and your environment. Strengthening this concept of unity energizes the crown chakra.

Become Aware of the Ego…

Our ego is basically the sense of being separate from the rest of the universe. The ego is a collection of definitions, ideas, and beliefs created through our life experiences. These beliefs rule us unconsciously as we identify with them, making them a part of who we are.

Through the ego we defend and justify our beliefs at all cost. Anyone challenging these beliefs becomes our enemy. The ego chooses to be right rather than see ‘the big picture’ or ‘the other side of the story’. The first step in overcoming egoic thought is to become aware of it.

The video (below) shows how to do the Breath of Fire. Learning this breathing exercise is a part of the Kundalini Yoga meditation (below). The Ego Eradicator meditation exercise is a great help in bringing focus to making changes to overcome the egoic self. It supports our intention for change.

Connect With Your Body…

The body is considered as the temple for the divine nature within each of us. The crown chakra relates to the intelligence of the body. This is developed through training the body through yoga or any type of physical discipline coupled with awareness of what the body is telling us.
Below are yoga poses that may help to bring balance to the crown chakra.

“The purpose of yoga is awareness, not perfected poses, beliefs, or any kind of attainment. Awareness from moment to moment requires quiet strength, flexibility, and balance. A good Yoga practice develops exactly these characteristics.” ~ Jim Gaudette

  • Easy Pose
  • Rabbit Pose (Sasangasana)
  • Standing Wide-Legged Forward Bend (Prasarita Padottanasana)
  • Tree Pose (Vrksasana)
  • Warrior I with Eagle Arms
  • Standing Yoga Mudra
  • Headstand (Sirsasana II)
  • Fish Pose (Matsyasana)
  • Legs up the Wall Pose
  • Extended Puppy Pose (Uttana Shishosana)
  • Corpe Pose (Savasana)

Essential oils…

The following are oils are thought to help bring balance to the crown chakra: Violet, Lotus, Jasmine, Lavender, Armoise, Angelica, Sandalwood, Frankincense, and Myrrh. They are often used during meditation. They can also be used during a relaxing aroma bath. (Lavender is recommended). Follow label directions when mixing essential oils in bath water. Frankincense is a favorite here (as well as for the third eye chakra) because it can both center and uplift while having a high sacred frequency. Place a drop on the third eye region during meditation or worship (add a carrier oil in case of skin sensitivity).

Space Clearing/Smudging…

Burning sage is great for removal of negative energy from your home or any space. Light it, blow out the flame and walk with it throughout the house. As you enter each room say a short prayer or blessing, allowing swirls of smoke to reach each corner of the room. Example: “May this home be blessed with positive energy, peace, and love”. Dry sage can be quite strong so you may prefer to use a sage incense stick. More on energy clearing.

Crystals…

Crystals are thought to have healing energies. Try keeping a stone with you where you can see it or use them for meditation. The following white or violet gemstones are thought to help energize the crown chakra: Clear Quartz (clear, align, balance, activate), Amethyst (clear, balance), Celestite (open, align, balance), Clear Topaz (activate), Danburite (clear, open, stimulate), Phenacite (open and energize), Optical Calcite (enegize), Rutilated Quartz(clear, balance, and activate), Selenite (balance)

Meditate…

The crown chakra is strongly affected by meditation. It connects us to our higher self and our Higher Power and it clears the mind.

“We take for granted that we need to take showers, clean our house, and wash our clothes. Yet the mind and its thoughts need cleansing and ordering as much as our bodies. While few of us would consider eating dinner on yesterday’s dirty dishes, we think nothing of tackling our problems with yesterdays cluttered minds…. The purpose to any meditation technique is to move beyond the normal contents of our consciousness, empty your mind of its habitual chatter, and concentrate your attention for the purpose of experiencing a higher state” ~ Anodea Judith (Chakra Balancing Workbook)

There are many ways to meditate from mindfulness during daily activities, to reciting mantras, using mudras, guided meditations, etc. Explore the meditation possibilities and find what works for you. Meditate daily, even if it’s for only a few minutes. Just take some time clear your mind from negative chatter, breathing in healing energy and exhaling what no longer serves you. Below are two guided meditations that may find useful.

Try Meditating with the Crown Chakra Mudra…

Crown Chakra Mudra

Place your hands in front of your stomach. Let the ring fingers point upwards, touching at their tips. Cross the rest of your fingers, with the left thumb under the right. Concentrate on the Crown Chakra at the top of your head and chant the sound NG silently or aloud.
Don’t use this meditation for the Crown chakra unless your grounding Root chakra is strong. It is important to have a strong foundation first.

OM Mantra…
A mantra is a sound, word, or phrase that is repeated for a specific effect. It provides a focus for the mind while meditating. The OM (or AUM) Mantra is believed to be the primordial sound from which all creation arose. It connects us to all that is.

Try Daily Affirmations to Balance the Crown Chakra:
I am in tune with Divine consciousness.
I am one with the Universe.
I am a spiritual being in a physical body.
I am guided by my higher power and inner wisdom.
I accept myself as I am, with love and gratitude.

I choose to transform my life and become free.

I release all limiting thoughts and lift myself up to higher levels of awareness.

Try a Reiki or Energy Healing: You would be surprised how cleansing, calming and balancing it can be. During a balancing session, a practitioner can assess and help get your energy cleared and flowing.
