There are many ways to energize and bring balance to the root chakra. Here are some suggestions:
Try grounding yourself to the earth by placing your feet firmly on the ground (outdoors if possible) and feel your connection to the earth. Go for a walk. Pay attention to each step, feel the connection and support of the earth beneath your feet.
Direct prana (life force energy) downward into the feet: jump, stomp, march, do squats, run, dance…all these things. Sit on the ground to meditate.
Sound Therapy: Vibrational Note: C, Frequency: 256 Hz. Try meditating with singing bowls or music made with these frequencies and notes. Try repeating the Mantra: Lam. Listen to the elemental sounds of thunder, native music and drumming.
Connect with base roots and the earth by drumming, gardening, working with clay, walking in nature, being aware of the roots of trees and plants below the earth. Take some time to appreciate your body for the ways that it supports you.
Foods: Earthy, rooted foods like carrots, beets, and garlic are thought to energize the Root Chakra.
Home base: Home is where we are able to rest and feel comfortable. Cooking and cleaning in the home can be grounding as well as decorating and making the home atmosphere warm pleasing.
Incorporate the color red. The color red brings energy and balance to the Root Chakra. You may want to try wearing red clothing, painting your toenails red, eating red foods, etc. You can also meditate on bringing red energy down into the area of the Root Chakra.

Try Mudra hand positions for meditation)...
Pran or prana means ‘life energy’. This mudra is said to energize elemental force of Root Chakra. It brings vitality and energy, reduces fatigue, reduces nervousness and improves vision. Combine with conscious, slow, gentle breathing for a calming, stabilizing effect. The thumb touches both the ring and pinky at the tips. The index and middle fingers remain extended. This gesture is done with both hands.

Prithvi Mudra
Prithvi is the Sanskrit word for earth. This hand gesture recharges the Root Chakra aligning it with earth energies. Touch the tip off the ring finger of each hand to the tip of the thumb. The rest of the fingers should be pointing straight. The grounding energy from this gesture helps to balance the different elements inside of the body. It also also helps to stabilize and strengthen the body, alleviating fatigue. Practicing this mudra helps foster self-confidence and helps open the mind freeing it from irrational prejudices and beliefs. More about Mudras here.
